Welcome to Karibuni Restaurant:
Karibuni, which means "Welcome" in Kenyan, is a famous french restaurant located in Pinel Island, in the heart of the Marine Park. Eric and Marion, the owners, arrived twenty years ago on Pinel Island and fell in love with this place. To get there, you can catch a ferry boat which runs hourly from the old fishing town of Cul-de-Sac, on St Martin's east shore. Or you can reach it by paddling in a kayak or on a stand up paddle board. Pinel Island is tiny and uninhabited, except by iguanas. There is not much here other than a stretch of gorgeous white sand lined with sea grape trees. Karibuni restaurant lies at the end of a narrow boardwalk, and its covered deck and tables tucked under the trees can seat 60-odd guests (topless or otherwise). Pick your table, order your meal, go for a swim, kayak around the island, explore the area on your paddle board and ask the waiter to give you a holler when lunch is served. Everything is prepared on the grill. Guests come for silence.
